(NL) Huisje Kluisje is een project voor de Provincie Utrecht met als doel een stem te geven aan starters op de woningmarkt. Deze groep is vaak nog slecht vertegenwoordigd bij het realiseren van nieuwe woningen. Welke dromen hebben deze starters en hoe kunnen de lokale overheid en projectontwikkelaars hen helpen hun dromen te verwerkelijken?
(NL) Voor de provincie Utrecht en OV-ambassadeurs zette ik mij in voor toegankelijker openbaar vervoer voor iedereen in de regio. Sommigen reizigers hebben meer ondersteuning nodig bij het reizen. Voor hen ontwierp ik een aantal instructieboekjes die als hulpmateriaal dienen voor een betere navigatie door het OV. De instructieboekjes zijn nu in gebruik in Utrecht, Limburg en Zuid-Holland.
(ENG) Delays, pixelation, missing sound – who hasn’t experienced video call issues in 2020? In a soothing retro-tech instruction video, ‘Human Interference’ offers advice on how we can cover technical hiccups by adopting the strategies of TV news presenters live on location. Pauses, slow speech, fake backgrounds and chit chat are all handy tools to overcome random latency as the algorithms unscramble or the signal returns. Using stop motion animation and 90s computer manual cut-outs, Daan Colussi gives a nostalgic nod to the glitchy hurdles we’ve already overcome. We are reminded that although communication technology may support us, we support it too, altering our behaviour to compensate for its awkward growing pains.
(NL) Het tv-programma Tegenlicht verkent hoopvolle en innovatieve ideeën voor de toekomst op het snijvlak van politiek, sociologie en wetenschap. Tegenlicht staat voor radicale hoop en daaraan is niks gelogen. Zo ontwierp ik voor de online redacties illustraties waarin ik veel ruimte kreeg voor experiment en een eigenzinnige stijl. Ook schreef en illustreerde ik mee aan de serie Jongerenrevolutie.
(ENG) Most of the time government sub-sidies sound like a good idea, in Bangalore we are told subsidies are used to promote a fair wa-ter cost for everyone, but is this really an accurate statement or just a pipedream. With only 60% percent of Bangalorians receiv-ing piped water, not everyone is provided the same services. The idea of rainwater collection seems like a democratic solution but re-quires planning, upfront costs and approximately 40 square meters of roof space. Witch for the low-er-class is unobtainable and for those who can, why bother when you’re only paying 7-22 rupees per kiloliter ? In short on average the poorer you are the more you pay. Can these subsidies be mod-ified to promote the basic right to clean drinking water rather than further broadening the gap be-tween comfort and surviving?
For a school assignment I had to make a store display for a clothing brand. The brand I chose was OBEY, because of it's street roots my idea was to design an illegal street vendor solution inspired by real street vendors selling sunglasses to tourists.
In 2015 Kanye anounced his run for the US presidency. When for a design acadmy project we were assigned to make a big kite, ye seemed like a natural choice. The kite became a visual commentary on the illusion of grateness, as kanye frequently compared himself to god.
